Tournament Team

For 2025, HSSA is offering Tournament Teams for 10U, 12U and 14U players interested in the next level!

Requirements to participate on a Tournament Team

  • Rec Team participation with 80% rec game participation.
  • Commitment to ALL tournament dates.

Hermantown Summer Softball Association’s Tournament team(s) are intended to offer girls the opportunity to play in more (outside of their recreational league) competitive tournaments around Minnesota. Playing time will not be equal however, girls will get into the game regularly. For all tournament teams, it’s strongly encouraged by HSSA that there is rostered hitting (everyone on the team hits) and girls do not sit on the bench more than 2 consecutive innings (unless injured or other factors agreed upon with parents and coaches). This suggestion is based on sports psychologists and coaching literature to support the mental and physical development of young athletes.

10U Tournament Team

  • Each player will participate in 2-4 tournaments. The expectation is that players commit to ALL tournaments. Tentative dates are listed below.
  • Ideally, each team will consist of 12 players.
  • 10U cost will be $100 per player ($25 tryout fee at the time of registration / $75 team fee if your player makes the team. These prices do not include your own personal travel costs.)
  • If player does not make a tournament team roster, the registration fee will NOT be refunded.

A four-year starter, primarily at shortstop, Erickson earned All-America, All-Region, And All-NSIC recognition during his time as a Bulldog.

As a player, Erickson also spent time in the Northwoods League with the Duluth Huskies (2008, 2010) and the Alexandria Beetles (2009).

In addition to his coaching stints at UMD, Erickson also spent four seasons as a varsity assistant/head JV baseball coach at Mountain Iron Buhl.

Erickson and his wife, Mandy, who is a first grade teacher at Hermantown Elementary School, have three children -- Riese (10), Tate (7), and Trae (1). Erickson loves to be involved in his kids’ activities and in the community. He is excited for the opportunity to coach the 10U softball team and to be on the diamond all summer (when they are not at the lake).

Glockle believes that sports can bring players, families, and communities together and it is the personal relationships that helps drive development. Having fun, working hard, and sticking to a process of improvement is key to long-term success in any sport. Most importantly, players need to feel safe to make mistakes, be open to feedback, and approach the game of softball with a positive attitude.

Thank you for the opportunity to coach your daughter.
